THE BIG STORY

In Matthew 28:11–15, some of the guards who witnessed the resurrection events report to the chief priests. In response, the religious leaders bribe the soldiers to spread a false story—that Jesus’ disciples stole His body while the guards were asleep. They promise protection if the governor hears of it. This fabricated account is then widely circulated among the Jewish people, illustrating the leaders’ attempt to suppress the truth of the resurrection through deception and self-preservation.
