Sinia vs Zion

Aug 23, 2026    Joe Schwenk

Hebrews 12:18–24 draws a powerful contrast between two mountains — Sinai, marked by fear, fire, and trembling, and Zion, marked by joy, welcome, and the saving work of Christ. The passage reminds believers that we have not come to a place of terror and distance, but to the heavenly Jerusalem where God gathers His redeemed people. Here, we join the assembly of the saints, the presence of God the Judge of all, and Jesus the Mediator of a new and better covenant. His sprinkled blood speaks a word stronger and better than Abel’s — a word of forgiveness, reconciliation, and hope. This text calls us to worship with gratitude, confidence, and awe as citizens of God’s eternal kingdom.
