THE GREATER HIGH PRIEST
Dec 28, 2025 • Chris Cooper
Hebrews 5:1–10 explains that every high priest is appointed to represent people before God, offering gifts and sacrifices for sins. However, Jesus is shown to be the greater High Priest because:
* He was appointed by God, not by human lineage, fulfilling the promise of a priest “forever in the order of Melchizedek.”
* Unlike earthly priests who share human weakness, Jesus learned obedience through suffering and was perfected, making Him the source of eternal salvation.
* His priesthood is unique—He mediates directly between God and humanity with complete righteousness and compassion.
