Faith That Chooses

Hebrews 11:23–26 tells the story of Moses and his parents, highlighting a faith that chooses God’s call over the comforts, privileges, and treasures of the world. Moses’ parents defied Pharaoh’s deadly decree because they trusted God more than they feared the king. When Moses grew up, he rejected the identity and luxury of Egypt, choosing instead to stand with God’s people—even though it meant suffering. He saw that the “reproach of Christ” was worth more than all the wealth Egypt could offer, because he was looking ahead to God’s eternal reward.

This sermon explores how courageous faith leads us to make costly, countercultural decisions: refusing false identities, resisting the pull of worldly comfort, and embracing obedience even when it hurts. It’s a call to live with the same clarity Moses had—seeing Christ as the greatest treasure and trusting God enough to follow Him wherever He leads.

If you’ve ever wrestled with fear, pressure, compromise, or the temptation to settle for what the world offers, this passage shows a better way: faith that sees Christ, chooses Christ, and treasures Christ above everything else.
